Step 1
Start at Fay Lake
Walk, fish, use the playgrounds or launch a non-motorized craft at the lake.
Fay Lake + rural north-Brevard nature
Use Fay Lake as the Port St. John anchor, then head north toward Mims for scrub preserves, rural roads and access to the quieter side of north Brevard.
Port St. John is a residential community with Fay Lake Wilderness Park as its standout outdoor destination. Walking, fishing, playgrounds, paddling and a dog park can fill a large part of a family day.
Mims changes the pace. North Buck Lake Scrub Sanctuary and nearby Scottsmoor Flatwoods preserve large natural areas, while the rural road network gives north Brevard a distinctly different feel from the cities farther south.
Step 1
Walk, fish, use the playgrounds or launch a non-motorized craft at the lake.
Step 2
Choose a sanctuary trail around Mims or Scottsmoor and bring water, sun protection and appropriate footwear.
Step 3
Use Titusville for dinner, a theater show or an Indian River stop after the quieter daytime route.
